Job Description
Cyient Inc. currently has an opening for a Outside Plant (OSP) Designer, responsible for engineering OSP Fiber, Copper and BAU work orders in the Santa Barbara / Goleta area. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, intelligent individuals with previous OSP engineering and Field data collection experience. Ideal candidates should have previous experience designing multiple OSP telecom projects simultaneously, including (but not limited to) FTTP and BAU projects, and be experienced with client software systems including Frogs / Varasset. The ideal OSP Designer will also travel to the field to survey, confirm, and assess current field conditions and meet with the customer as they relate to ongoing OSP designs / DORs.
Candidate must have reliable transportation for the multiple field visit per Customer requirement to self-manage their work load and work schedule.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree (preferred)
- Must have experience in the Telecommunications Outside plant engineering and/or construction industry.
- Should have good understanding of basic computer concepts and technology. Experience with Frogs / Varasset / M6 and DOR orders.
- Should have strong understanding of Design and construction of Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried, BICS) and manhole and conduit design
- Should have fielding experience.
- Knowledge of basic permitting processes (highway, railroad, city, county, etc)
- Should be proactive and a self-learner.
- Possess strong professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to read, understand, interpret, input, and analyze data.
- Should have good attitude and ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to communicate daily progress status to the stakeholders
