New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Research Assistant for the department of Neuro & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator prepares stocks, genotypes mice, performs histochemical staining, Western blot, and determines aging phenotypes in the aging mice.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- As requested, assists with setting up technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of senior members of the laboratory to include genotyping, performing PCR, performing behavioral tests and immunostaining.
- Assists with management of mouse colonies.
- Responsible for packing, unpacking, storing and classification of specimens tested.
- May be assigned to enter data, organize lab records, maintain lab by cleaning areas of specialized use and assist in ordering and stocking laboratory resources.
