DESCRIPTION
This is a hybrid role balancing both video production operational and system engineer responsibilities. This role will include operating video production equipment for studio video content, editorial work, and ensuring the health and maintenance of the studio equipment systems.
The candidate in this role will successfully navigate operating shoots with limited guidance. They are expected to manage their responsibilities while optimizing team processes. This person can navigate and find solutions for business and technical issues. A successful candidate would be a mentor to others on the team.
On the production operational side, a successful candidate will have a strong, diverse background in videography, camera operations, audio engineering, and a general knowledge of lighting composition. A successful candidate would have deep knowledge and experience in production equipment operation for studio-based content. They would also support offsite video production requests, capturing b-roll for customer events. Candidates should demonstrate deep studio equipment knowledge, technical directing abilities, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to keep calm, focused and confident in a production environment. A successful candidate will have an impeccable focus and drive to constantly improve the customer experience.
For the studio systems engineer aspect, the candidate will own studio-based equipment maintenance projects, both planned and unplanned. This candidate would oversee maintaining the overall health and updating of the equipment systems. When troubleshooting, the system engineer will evaluate the risks with efficiency to properly gauge the optimum solution and act on what can be solved immediately and determine what solutions need to be taken to management. The Studio Engineer/Video Production Specialist should have a strong background in technical problem-solving skills to support operations when systemic problems arise, and proactively, when invention and efficiency can be implemented to solve problems before they occur. Production technologies require systematic backup systems so that a buffer is created where the team and client will have knowledge of an implemented backup plan, but the end customer will hopefully never even know a problem occurred.
When this candidate is not actively filming or maintaining the equipment systems, they will work on post productions requests alongside of the editorial team. This would require knowledge and significant experience in audio and visual editing programs and editorial composition.
