The Office of Housing at the University of Tennessee at Martin is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Building Services Assistant for Cooper Hall. The Building Services Assistant is responsible for the oversight of the custodial operation of their specified residence hall/apartment complex on campus in conjunction with other custodians. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Oversee and direct a team of 2 to 4 custodians to ensure their assigned building meets the custodial standards for cleaning. This includes developing cleaning schedules, inspecting daily work performance, conferring with staff to resolve production and personnel problems, and training staff in custodial methods, procedures, and operation of equipment.
• Assist in the management of residence halls by working with Hall Directors and Residence Assistants to contribute to the efficient operation of halls.
• Perform minor residential hall repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure well-functioning and safe residential areas.
• Submit and complete assigned work orders.
• Review buildings and report maintenance problems. Follow up with reports to ensure all work orders and repairs are completed.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies; request resupply when needed.
• Clean and maintain assigned facilities by daily inspecting buildings.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, and/or buff floors.
• Service/sanitize restrooms.
• Replace extinguished light bulbs.
• Remove trash and recyclable items as directed to ensure cleanliness and safety of facilities
• Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools as needed.
• Assure all cleaning supplies, chemicals, tools, and dangerous items are locked in cabinets and storage areas when not in use.
• Assist in the preparation and clean up for housing guests such as camp and conference attendees.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and 6 months of custodial or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Supervisor experience in custodial or related field.
