DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Energy Assistance Workers process initial benefit applications as well as CRISIS applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6 to 8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
After receiving on the job training, your duties include interviewing clients, acting as a liaison with heating vendors, reviewing and completing applications received in order to recommend approval or disapproval of benefits. The majority of this job is completion work through data entry. Work assignments are limited in scope and performed under close supervision of an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor who reviews work for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to the program regulations. You may perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5-hours weekly
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
May change based on operational needs.
This is a non-permanent full-time seasonal position with the LIHEAP program. Seasonal employment runs from approximately October to April but employment may begin as early as September and last until June.

WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Travel and overtime as needed.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Franklin County. If no eligible candidates who live within Franklin County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
