As a Cook/Dietary Aide, you will be a vital part in supporting patients’ health and wellness by providing safe and delicious meals for patients. Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Nutrition Services, you will be responsible for the preparation of all food items for patient room service and the cafeteria, according to Nutrition Service’s requirements of quality, quantity, nutrition and appearance. This position will be trained for all four department positions on both shifts allowing you to quickly enhance your skills and build meaningful relationships with many patients and caregivers.

Responsibilities:
- Meets with Dietitian or Manager with Room Service menu concerns.
- Notifies Manager of food, supplies or equipment needs, including equipment breakdowns and unsafe conditions.
- Checks and inspects food products and supplies as delivered, and assists in the storage of supplies and food products in the absence of the Manager.
- Plans and initiates cooking schedule for food preparation to meet the mealtime schedule, using only approved, standardized recipes.
- Maintains timely prepara tion and delivery of all meals to patients.
- Maintains safe food handling practices while preparing and serving food for patients, staff and visitors. Records all food temperatures on proper log.
- Practices infection control, sanitation and safety precautions as instructed.
- Tends to dish machine and puts clean dishes away, washes pots and pans, sweeps and mops dish room area and other related tasks. Records all dishwasher temperatures appropriately.
- Follows manufacturer's instructions for use of Nutrition Service equipment.
- Follows cleaning schedule and performs other cleaning duties.
- Operates cash register as needed.
- Assists with special function setups and tear-downs.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
- Follows hospital/system and department policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
