SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB)
Serves as a technical expert sets up, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs simulation equipment, hospital-type equipment used in simulation activities, and AV/IT equipment used in simulation activities. Instructs and assists simulation educators and faculty and learners in the use of technical equipment used in simulation. Assists in operational activities such as staff and maintenance scheduling, and inventory/purchasing functions. Familiarizes self with the various modalities of simulation education and possesses a good grasp of simulation educational principles. Assists in the development, setup, and delivery, and takedown of simulation education sessions. Assists in project planning, staff on boarding, and other educational activities as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year of clinical experience. Previous experience in healthcare simulation preferred.
Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider
Knowledge and Skills: Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Previous experience in managing networks. Knowledge of interfacing with cloud servers. Ability to run audio and visual equipment as required.
Special Training: Class B CDL License required within six months of hire.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Good public speaking skills and training abilities.
Usual Work Day: Non-Exempt Hours
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares the clinical training environment in the Simulation Laboratory and for in situ simulation, and operates, maintains, and relocates simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized simulators, virtual reality procedural trainers, and associated AV equipment with the ability to follow medical aspects of scenarios, and make appropriate adjustments to technology systems.
- Trains hospital staff and community in healthcare by way of simulation activities.
- Conducts post-course documentation and archiving activities as necessary, returns mannequin or other simulator back to steady state. Cleans, replaces, and stores props or medical equipment at post-simulation.
- Assists in maintaining an accurate inventory of hardware and software. Creates troubleshooting documents, simulator checklists, and preventative maintenance plans for simulation equipment.
- Assists in planning, developing, and implementing new and innovative ways to maximize efficiency. Acquires and maintains skills and knowledge related to existing and newly acquired technologies.
- Enters information into software management system for both simulator-based and standardized patient simulations.
- Educates learners on the use of patient care simulators and related media and computer equipment. Ensures student compliance with hospital, departmental, and lab policies, procedures, and safety precautions.
- Maintains current education and involvement in simulation community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
