The Business Manager will support various pillar leadership teams within the Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED) Computational Sciences (gCS), which is an organization that serves as a strategic thought partner to help drive functional short-term and long-term business planning, strategy development, and execution. This role reports into the Director of Program Management and Operations.
Onsite presence, on our South San Francisco campus, is expected for at least 3 days a week.
The Opportunity:
Leads collaborations to develop and implement gCS department policy and is point of contact for insights into and adherence of broader company policy.
Leads planning and events calendar upkeep of functional activities and supports staff-focused function activities (e.g. offsite planning and recognition events).
Participates in planning and execution of key functional programs (e.g. gCS Intern Program and gCS Ecosystem Programs).
Accountable for facilitation of change in usage and/or responsibilities of enterprise systems (e.g. contracting & procurement, time tracking, and learning & development).
Helps manage departmental communication and content (e.g. management of communication plan with Global Communication, website, etc.).
Lead in the facilitation and maintenance of gCS governance and support related business processes.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree or comparable depth and breadth of training and experience and who meet job-specific criteria are eligible for consideration. Business or project management coursework or additional supportive training desired (e.g. PMP, Six Sigma, Lean, Design Thinking, Agile methodology, etc.).
5 years of experience in a related field.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
Strong project management skills, very organized and adapts quickly to rapidly changing business demands.
Self-starter, ability to work with minimum or no supervision and takes initiative to solve a wide range of difficult problems in creative ways.
Adept at fostering positive, transparent and productive relationships and has proven ability to challenge and propose solutions for current business processes.
Proficient with skills in one or more of the following core business management areas:
Strategic planning
Business process management and improvement
Project management
Team facilitation
Communication and event planning
Cross-functional collaboration
Change management
Broad organizational and business knowledge

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $113,500 - $210,700 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
