New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist II for NJMS-Microbiology. This position is under direction, is responsible for the management of a medium-sized laboratory area. Designs and conducts highly specialized, technical research.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists in the establishments of performance standards as well as the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
- Performs various research and technical operations independently or as assigned, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions, relating to Plasmodium biology and host infection pathways.
- Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory technicians, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
- Assists with the preparation of proposals, formal applications and justifications for grant applications.
- Assists with the development of budget proposals for the laboratory area
