Energy and Sustainability Communications Specialist

ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help federal government clients implement and evolve their energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability programs. This position will be based in our Reston, VA headquarters office in a hybrid work environment. Successful candidates will support the implementation of high-profile public-private partnership programs to drive energy efficiency and emissions reductions across commercial, multifamily, institutional, and industrial markets, with a focus on the industrial sector. They will be part of a team that builds and maintains relationships with key market actors, reviews and analyzes energy, water, and emissions data, develops marketing material that recognizes market leadership, and collaborates with other team members and clients to develop national and regional strategies to increase participation in energy and decarbonization programs.
Responsibilities
Coordinating with clients and other team members to develop local, regional, and national strategies to influence the market and increase participation in voluntary energy and decarbonization programs
Developing communications, outreach, and training resources, including newsletters, case studies, website content, webinars, and in-person events
Conducting outreach to industrial energy and sustainability managers
Supporting partner recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support to maximize program participation
Maintaining detailed records in a customer relationship management system
Conducting research and analysis of energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and decarbonization programs and policies
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., environmental studies, public policy, science, business)
2+ years relevant experience in commercial and public sector energy and sustainability programs
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines
Preferred Skills/Experience
Master’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., environmental studies, public policy, science, business)
Experience writing reports, articles, case studies, or other communications materials
Experience in energy and emissions analysis
Experience with ENERGY STAR, DOE Better Buildings/Better Plants, LEED, and/or other efficiency/sustainability tools and program platforms
Experience working on energy efficiency for industrial or commercial facilities
Proficiency in oral and written communication skills
Highly developed interpersonal skills and self-motivation
Proficiency in analytical skills
Solid personal computer skills (Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel)
Familiarity with the development/delivery of public-private voluntary partnership programs
Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software systems

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:
$65,820.00 - $111,894.00
