Job Summary/Basic Function |
The graphic design specialist at the college is the creative powerhouse behind our printed marketing materials. They collaborate with teams across Marketing & Communications, Admissions, College Advancement and academic departments to ensure every project shines. From collecting and analyzing project details to advising on publication formats and cost estimates, their magic touch extends to creating digital files, incorporating client feedback, and preparing files for production. Plus, they’re the guardians of the college’s style guide, ensuring our brand shines consistently across campus and beyond in all format types. This role also involves creating digital designs for social media, the Dickinson website and other platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Design and oversee the production of a wide range of marketing and communication print materials for the college, including but not limited to invitations, brochures, handbooks, bulletins, catalogues, newsletters, posters, advertisements, and various other documents, ensuring excellence in both print and digital formats. The role also involves creating digital designs for social media, the Dickinson website and other platforms as needed. Utilize Adobe Creative Suite software in conjunction with Microsoft 365 file management systems.
- Prepare and supply design files to on and off campus printers for production and mail distribution. Collaborate with vendors to supply print-ready files for branded merchandise. Coordinate with Dickinson Print Center bulk mail technician to ensure all designed mail pieces adhere to USPS postal regulations.
- Attend project meetings. Consult, counsel, and coordinate with editorial services and clients to collect their project information and graphic assets (photography, biographies, statistics). Prepare proof drafts for clients and integrate edits as needed based on feedback. Collaborate with campus photographers and videographers to capture stunning imagery to promote the Dickinson brand.
- Oversee print production. Submit specifications to printers for quotes. Review production proofs and perform press checks as needed. Adjust original design files in a timely manner to keep production on schedule.
- Disseminate graphics for web use to both internal and external clients that coordinate with printed publications. Ensure branding standards are maintained in all formats including college branded merchandise.
- Assist with preparation and facilitation of campus events as needed including media relations and fulfilling production at campus print center when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications |
Required: Associate’s Degree – Graphic Design
3-5 years Work Experience
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree – Graphic Design
Design and/or production experience may be substituted for a degree if the level of workmanship reflects a superior skill level. |
A valid Driver's Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator’s license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period. |
