Berryessa Union School District is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, nestled against the northeast foothills in San Jose, California. The District serves a community of approximately 45,000 homes and has about 7,200 students enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade. Job Description / Essential Elements:

DUTIES: Drives a bus daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules; picks up and discharges school children; escorts children across streets when necessary; stops traffic as necessary; transports children and teachers on field trips to various locations following designated routes and making departure and arrival times as scheduled; maintains adequate discipline and safety while on the bus following district policies and procedures; assists in maintaining the bus and other motor equipment in clean and safe operating condition; inspects the bus daily to ensure it is in safe operating condition, including checking lights, brakes, oil, water and gas as per California Vehicle Code; maintains positive courteous and professional contact with students, staff and parents; works cooperatively with others; and performs related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or equivalent; at least six months experience as a bus driver, or one year experience as a truck driver; knowledge of provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code; knowledge of safe-driving practices; possession of valid California Class B drivers license with a “P” passenger endorsement; a valid California School Bus Driver Certificate; a valid Medical Examination Certificate; a valid First Aid Certificate; ability to drive a school bus and other automotive equipment in a safe and efficient manner; ability to follow oral and written instructions and must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
UPON OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO:
1. Must pass a Controlled Substance Test.
2. Provide names and addresses of any Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Program you have participated in preceding two years. Give written consent for the District to obtain these records.
3. Completion of "Verification of Secondary Employment" form.
4. Criminal Justic Fingerprint Clearance Required.
