The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will perform tasks with general direction in order to coordinate research protocols, as directed by the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Clinical Research & Community Outreach Coordinator (CRCOC). The CRC will schedule participants, and coordinate the data collection and operations of several concurrent clinical research studies under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF and regulating agency policies.
The CRC's duties may include, but will not be limited to supporting the management and coordinating the tasks of multiple clinical research studies; act as intermediary between services and departments while overseeing data and specimen management; manage and report on study results; create, clean, update, and manage databases and comprehensive datasets and reports; coordinate staff work schedules; manage Investigator’s protocols in the Committee on Human Research online system, as well as renewals and modifications of protocol applications and the implementation of new studies; participate in the review and writing of protocols to ensure institutional review board approval within University compliance; help assure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies; oversee study data integrity; implement and maintain periodic quality control procedures; interface with departments to obtain UCSF approval prior to study initiation; maintain all regulatory documents; report study progress to investigators; participate in any internal and external audits or reviews of study protocols; assist other collaborating studies with translation services (from English into Mandarin/Cantonese) when necessary and possible; and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
This position also involves working off-site some days, supporting the PI and CRCOC to successfully perform outreach in the community in order to diversify study population. Part of these outreach duties include, but will not be limited to assist in the organization of educational and health fairs and events; participate as speaker at conferences, forums and facilitate workshops around brain health/caregiving issues for older adults as well as families, younger adults and possibly teenagers; assist the PI and CRCOC in the creation of educational material accessible to general population. This position might be required to work on some weekends (4-5 times per year) in order to attend certain community events.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, biology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or other related fields, and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience performing community outreach with Asian population
- Fluency in the usage of Committee of Human Research (CHR), renewal, and modification of protocols through this system.
- Knowledge or experience with basic clinical research techniques and methods, such as subject screening, consenting, and privacy practices (including CITI or similar certification)
- Minimum 1 year of experience administering cognitive/neuropsychological tests
- Minimum 1 year of experience in geriatrics
- Minimum 1 year of experience in data management and data entry.
- Preparation of datasets and compilation of data for presentation at meetings
- Knowledge of IRB procedures including study applications, renewals, and modifications
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Knowledge of UCSF, CHR, confidentiality and HIPPA regulations, following the UCSF mission statement and purpose for research, and a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.);
- Knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, database building/analysis, and data management within some of the following: Excel, R, Stata, SAS/ SPSS
- Proficiency in Mandarin language
- Bilingual (Mandarin/Cantonese-English) Medical Interpreter Certification.
- Experience applying the following regulations and guidelines: Good Clinical Practice Guideline Health Information and Accountability Act (HIPAA), The Protection of Human Research Subjects, CHR regulations for recruitment and consent of research subjects
- Bilingual in English and Cantonese with adequate proficiency to collect data in Mandarin/Cantonese
- This position will specifically reach out to Asian population in the Bay Area; therefore, a bilingual (Cantonese-English) and bicultural candidate is required
- Able to translate from written English to traditional/simplified Chinese
- HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities or equivalent experience/training
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize time effectively in a multi-tasking environment
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and preferably Outlook
- Competence in database utilization (Excel, Access, or other)
- Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines.
