Using various methods, i.e, Dalcroze, Orff, Kodaly, etc., teaches elements of music as is appropriate for elementary students
Creates classroom atmosphere which inspires children’s innate love and desire to create/respond to music and encourages learning about unfamiliar music
Provides varieties to larger productions
Creates musical ensembles, such as:
A) Chorus (mandatory)
B) Movement Group
C) Instrumental Orff Ensemble
Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils.
Controls the storage and use of school-owned property; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and musical performances
Plans, rehearses, and directs pupils musical programs
Selects and recommends books, musical instruments, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records
Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress
Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems
Cooperates with the school administration in providing musical programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and civic functions
Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned
Participates in curriculum and other development programs
Participates in faculty committees
Maintains professional competence through a variety of activities including inservice education provided by the district, and self-selected professional growth activities related to music
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities of a certified professional as the Principal may assign from time to time
