Job Summary
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) has the responsibility and accountability for coordinating the medical management of patients using an evidence-based approach. In collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, the Assistant Nurse Manager identifies at risk patients, develops a plan of care, and coordinates care with the multidisciplinary team and the patient’s involvement. Will work with physicians and other patient care providers as he/she supports the department in meeting quality process and performance objectives through data collection, data analysis and process outcome evaluation. Maintain, mentor, and promote professionalism, courtesy, and confidentially at all times. Work with other team members to achieve organizational goals to provide patient care outcomes focused on quality and the patient experience. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Delegates patient care at the unit level to effectively meet the needs of the plan of care. Sets clinical team priorities based on patient needs including facilitation of the Length of Stay meeting aimed at supporting an effective discharge.
- Develops/assists a patient centered plan of care based on clinical standards of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Acts as a mentor to team members in prioritizing care accordingly.
- Evaluates effectiveness of care through support of performance improvement initiatives and audit activities to insure high performance from the clinical team. Collaborates with Manager/Director/AVP regarding standards of care and staff expectations.
- Supervises and serves as a clinical resource and behavioral role model
- Maintains departmental efficiency/effectiveness and sets priorities appropriately
- Contributes and enforces the departmental Performance Improvement initiatives and National Patient Safety Goals
- Supervises unit orientation and staff development programs
- Participates in staff/peer performance evaluations
- Performs other related duties/participates in special projects and committees

Minimum Education/Certifications
Graduate of an accredited program in nursing. BSN preferred.
Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state of NJ.
Certifications required: BLS (American Heart Association)
Minimum Work Experience
3 year or more experience in hospital setting preferred.
One year of charge nurse experience preferred
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday with occasional weekends as indicated.
