As a Radiology Technologist, you will complete diagnostic radiographic procedures in our radiology department. While showing knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and policies, you will collaborate with department leadership to achieve established goals and objectives. You will be faced with challenging cases and modern equipment supply an opportunity to learn and grow into other areas of imaging. Your primary duties will include:
•Performing routine radiology examinations in accordance to the manual and written order.
•Explaining the procedure to the patient, parent, or legal guardian, using easily understood terms and obtain verbal permission to start the exam.
•Consulting with radiologist or referring physicians regarding contraindications to order exam.
•Documenting patient’s clinical information, medical history, allergies, and other information in an accurate manner.
•Obtaining written consent for procedures from the patient, parent, or legal guardian prior to examinations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Adjusts and controls complex electronic equipment in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.
- Prepares and positions patients prior to procedures to ensure their safety and to obtain desired reports for diagnostic purposes.
- Calculates and selects appropriate equipment and technical factors such as proper type of film and amount of kilovolts or milliamperes. Follows radiation protection procedures.
- Maintains working condition of all equipment and reports any malfunctions or needs for adjustments to appropriate personnel.
- Assists in maintaining sanitary condition of radiology area.
- Instructs various hospital staff about techniques and procedures relating to radiology as requested, including Radiation Safety.
- Stays abreast of current developments in field by reviewing available literature and attending appropriate programs.
- Continually works to anticipate and exceed the needs and expectations of customers.
- Properly evaluates requisitions including identifying patient and procedure to be performed. Documents and notates each treatment.
- Complies with all Radiology information system entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.
- Assists and supports the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect. Provides supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures. Reviews images with students on request and provides quarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
Education:
- Completion of Radiologic Technology programs from approved school.
Certifications:
- Registered Radiographer (R) with American Registry of Radiology Technologists.
- Current Radiology state license.
- BLS - Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
Complexity of Work:
- Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
Work Experience:
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
