JOB SUMMARY:
Experienced Capital Project Management Leader to oversee the establishment and operation of our Capital Project Management Organization. The Capital Project Management Leader will drive project management excellence, standardization, and efficiency across the organization. The successful candidate will lead a team of project managers and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects that align with our strategic objectives while demonstrating strong financial business acumen, budgeting, and cost control skills.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Establish and lead the Capital Project Management organization) to deliver best-in-class project management services and support.
- Develop and implement project management methodologies, processes, and standards to ensure project consistency and efficiency.
- Define project governance structures, roles, and responsibilities, and provide guidance and oversight to project teams.
- Lead project portfolio management activities, including project selection, prioritization, and resource allocation, with a focus on financial business acumen.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, and implement strategies to control costs and maximize project profitability.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to develop project budgets, track expenses, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Lead financial analysis and reporting efforts to provide insights into project financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Manage a team of project managers, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and key stakeholders to align project initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes, tools, and capabilities.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels to keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks and issues, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure project success.
- Prepare and present regular reports and updates on project status, milestones, and key performance indicators to executive leadership.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university in Business Administration, Project Management, Finance, or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly preferred.
- 10 years of experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex projects.
- 10 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a Project Management O?ce (PMO) or similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, portfolio management, budgeting, cost control, and ?nancial analysis.
WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:
- Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
- Requires the ability to work Mondays through Fridays with in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine, Woodland Hills, San Mateo, and Bellevue.
- Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks.
- This role requires frequent travel to various locations for meetings, projects, client visits, or on-site work.
- May be responsible for a mix of direct and matrix reports. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources. Leads and supports staff in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

The salary range for this position is $148,000.00 - $237,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $148,000.00 - $193,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.
This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
