We area actively seeking a talented Director, Consultant Relations to join our team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE to work remotely or in the office.
As a Director, National Markets, focused on building key consultant relationships, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by being responsible for growing the Pacific Life footprint of Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) and Defined Contribution Lifetime Income (DCLI) products for the Institutional Division across the consultant space. Your colleagues will include other National Markets Directors and Sales Associates dedicated to the PRT and DCLI market. The national markets team works closely to collaborate and coordinate with other functional areas within the division to provide a high level of customer service to our clients.
How you'll help move us forward:
Market Pacific Life’s suite of products to targeted consultants and consultant groups to generate home office awareness of brand and products/solutions, identify sales opportunities, and achieve sales goals. Includes in-person office visits, phone calls, virtual meetings, and attending industry meetings and conferences. Also includes marketing and developing relationships with clients.
Responsible for building consultant engagement strategies, including creating and maintaining detailed "firm profiles” for targeted relationships, with information on focus items, sales strategy, etc.
Prioritize activity and leverage a metrics-driven approach to track relationships and drive results. Work with internal sales team, pricing, operations, risk management, and others as appropriate to identify, gather, and provide pertinent information, understand structure and pricing considerations, interface with the client/intermediary to communicate bids and seek competitive feedback to close sales.
Responsible for meeting targeted activity metrics and sales targets.
Manage the end-to-end sales process on opportunities sourced through strategic partners, DB clients and key consultants to drive sales and adoption. This includes but is not linited to relationship development, opportunity sourcing, pipeline management, coordinating sales teams and making compelling presentations.
Development of due diligence meeting process and overall accountability for execution and success for these site visits with a goal of deepening relationships and driving sales activity.
Document activities in SalesForce and report out on a regular basis. Partner closely with other key areas to drive opportunities through the pipeline.
Lead annual review meetings, in partnership with other functional areas within the division.
Build and foster targeted relationships with plan sponsors, with connection to consultant and advisor relationships, to further drive Pacific Life’s DC reach.
Build and foster targeted relationships with key Independent Fiduciaries to further drive Pacific Life’s DC reach.
Monitor market, solicit feedback from intermediaries, and provide feedback internally regarding trends in products, competitors, emerging markets, etc.
Provide input into the needs and development of appropriate product, support materials including presentations, brochures, website, advertisements, social media campaigns, etc.
The experience you bring:
Four-year college degree in business administration, marketing, investments, finance, mathematics or a related field.
Life and Health license.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in sales, marketing, consulting or similar role in the defined benefit plan and or defined contribution plan market.
Ability to execute, Strong performance orientation and drive sales results.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to grasp complexities and perceive relationships among business and financial issues.
Demonstrated consultative selling skills as well as strong communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in using SalesForce for both activity tracking and reporting.
Known for ability to respectfully and confidently collaborate and easily communicate with various stakeholders.
Self-reflective and aware of his/her own limitations; leads by example and drives the organization's performance with an attitude of continuous improvement.
Mindset to enable breakthrough innovations and business models that create value for all stakeholders, continually challenging traditional approaches.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Requires modest to significant travel across the US.
What makes you stand out:
Strong working knowledge of Defined contribution plan design and regulatory environment.
Demonstrated success working directly with National DB/DC consulting firm leadership.
Current or previous engagement in Retirement industry associations / groups.
Working knowledge of the Pension Risk Transfer market and key influencers.
Compensation: The base pay for the role is $150,000. In addition, this role is eligible for incentive compensation based on performance.
