Under the supervision of the Custodial Assistant Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing all assignments and appointed staff duties, while providing high quality and efficient custodial cleaning standards to all assigned buildings which include patient and non-patient areas. The incumbent will oversee project work that is assigned and manage the work orders related to such projects.

- Successful completion of basic custodial training
- University and/or Medical Center experience
- Current valid California Drivers License
- Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic calculations and two years of custodial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Ability to read, write and follow simple oral and written instructions in English. Ability to speak clearly in English.
- Willingness and ability to tolerate, occasionally, some unpleasant sight and odors, e.g. blood, chemical odors, remains of vomiting, etc.
- Good grooming and personal cleanliness and willingness to wear prescribed attire.
- Ability to meet physical demands involved. Stands and walks most of working day. A turn stoops, crouches, and reaches in performing cleaning tasks. Lift and carries up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment and perform duties using gloves if skin cannot tolerate cleaning chemicals or solutions.
- Ability to clean and maintain assigned areas in conformance with established procedures and standards.
- Good working knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods, material and proper use and care of floor machines e.g. Buffers, electric or battery operated automatic scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, shampooed/scrubbing machines, regular floor stripper/scrubber, floor drier, electric or gasoline air floor sweepers.
- Ability to apply appropriates cleaning methods and techniques in special areas following given guidelines.
- General knowledge of equipment needed in emergencies such as floods, disaster or fires.
- Ability to maintain harmonious working relationship with associates, supervisor and clinical staff members.
- Background check and physical examination is required.
- MandatoryTraining completion: Infections Control Protocols, Bio Hazardous Waste Compliance Training, and Blood Bourne pathogens training. All training must be completed prior to task assignments.
