SUMMARY: Incumbents supervise the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of recreation activities; supervise staff; provide professional-level customer service; manage the programs budget, and market recreation programs and events. Incumbents also supervise City-wide recreation activities such as special interest classes; youth, teen, and adult programs; adaptive programs; community special events and volunteer programs. Incumbents make employment recommendations; write performance evaluations; recommend budget needs for approval by the Director; and work with outside entities/community center rental groups, partners, and sponsors.

Supervises fitness room and fitness room staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; scheduling staff; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe work environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations
Plans, develops, markets, and evaluates several recreation activities such as special events, instructional classes, community events, special needs program, preschool, youth and adult programs. Assist Special Event Coordinator with programming
Establishes rules and procedures for efficient and effective operation of program; monitors program compliance with laws, rules, and regulations related to provision of recreation and related services; recommends improvements and modifications; prepares various program reports on activities
Supervises the development and/or distribution of marketing and publicity brochures, press releases, website, social media, fliers, mailings, and/or other related public relations materials
Prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of reports and documents related to assigned programs and their associated activities, including financial reports that reflect program revenue, expenses, and participant counts
Provides professional-level customer service by serving as liaison with the public, community cooperatives, school districts, internal employees, and/or other interested parties; attends a variety of meetings and serves on committees; investigates and resolves issues and/or problems; develops partnerships
Prepares and administers program annual budget by forecasting revenues and expenditures, presenting proposals and payments for approval, and monitoring expenditures for recommended adjustments, purchases equipment and supplies
Researches, writes, and monitors grant opportunities, compliance, and requirements
Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management or closely related field, and four years of responsible experience in professional recreation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
CERTIFICATION/ LICENSURE: Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Ohio commercial driver license.
