DEFINITION:
Under the direction of the principal, assists in the planning, coordination, and directing of activities and programs related to the administration of one or more elementary schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serves as an instructional leader
- Coordinates all aspects of State standardized testing
- Develops and implements the school safety plan in cooperation with staff and public safety agencies
- Organizes, coordinates and administers assigned programs and activities related to student discipline, attendance, curriculum and instruction
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of certificated and classified staff
- Conducts thorough and deliberate investigations related to student and employee discipline
- Adheres to District Board Policy and Administrative Regulations
- Organizes, schedules and implements student incentive programs, student activities and parent workshops
- Serves as the chief administrator in the absence of the principal
- Promotes a professional culture that fosters site-based management by involving stakeholders in the decision making process
- Develops the School Plan with input from stakeholders and approval by School Site Council
- Adheres to the School Plan in making programmatic and budgetary decisions
- Maintains a balanced budget
- Supervises and manages site operations and facilities with high standards for safety and efficiency
- Treats students with respect while implementing a positive and effective discipline policy
- Facilitates Student Study Team (SST) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings
- Communicates effectively with parents regarding student discipline and academic progress
- Monitors student enrollment, academic records, attendance and health requirements
- Disaggregates student data to inform instruction and improve student achievement
- Adheres to the certificated and classified Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Screens, interviews and recommends candidates who are caring, enthusiastic and display a positive attitude
- Motivates exceptional employee performance and enhances morale
- Attends and actively participates in District scheduled meetings, committees and professional development
- Works cooperatively with District personnel
- Adheres to schedules and timelines
- Plans, organizes and implements District staff development and training; encourages and supports professional growth for all staff members
- Partners with community businesses and organizations to garner positive publicity and support

CREDENTIAL/LICENSE:
- Valid California Administrative Credential
- · Valid California Driver License
EDUCATION:
Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in educational administration or a related field
EXPERIENCE:
Successful teaching in an elementary school; experience in the area of elementary curriculum; demonstrated skill in participatory management, shared decision-making and school and program planning. Site or district level leadership desirable
Credentialed Applicants:
- Master’s Degree
- Valid California Administrative Credential authorizing service at the elementary school level
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in grades K-6 or a minimum of three (3) years of teaching and a minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience of grades K-6
Intern Applicants:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience of grades K-6
- Commitment in writing to immediately enroll in an administrative intern credential program and Master’s degree program. Failure to complete the program will result in release
