New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Physician Assistant-Surgical in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery within the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Physician Assistant participates in a collegial relationship with the physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. The role includes taking histories, making assessments, ordering lab tests, reviewing and reporting diagnostic lab values, conducting outpatient clinics, and assisting physicians in the OR.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as imaging, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
- Perioperative management of surgical patients.
- Inpatient rounds and outpatient office visits.
- Emergency room consultations.
- Assists with surgical procedures.
