The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) at Rutgers University is the largest academic unit of the University and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning humanities, social, physical and life sciences and over 100 different majors, plus programs, centers, bureaus and institutes. SAS has a membership of over 2,000 permanent and temporary faculty (instructional and research), teaching and graduate assistants, part-time lecturers, and post-doctoral appointees, and over 500 administrative staff. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Specialist for the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology within the School of Arts and Sciences.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides full life cycle (pre and post award) grant support to assigned Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB), including proposal development, proposal submission, account administration, reconciliation, close-out and effort reporting for assigned departmental accounts and sponsored program accounts.
- Works with management and PIs to develop budgets and to prepare sponsored program proposal submissions.
- Monitors and approves procurement activities.
- Approves and tracks account and award expenditures.
- Tracks effort certification for accuracy.
- Manages close-outs of grant and non-grant accounts at fiscal year-end and project accounts as needed.
- Analyzes data and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual budgets, forecasts and reports related to assigned accounts.
- Assists personnel with expense reimbursement requests and processing.
- Regularly monitors, projects and reconciles assigned accounts.
- Prepares Employee Charging Instructions and resolves payroll issues.
- Assists with special projects as required.
