Duties
Serve as principal adviser to the Vice Provost for Global Affairs on all communications related to the University\u2019s global engagement.
Produce and edit a monthly newsletter, with input from constituent offices, highlighting globally oriented news and funding/scholarship opportunities for the broader University community, with a circulation of more than 7,000 readers.
Produce and edit an annual report profiling the University\u2019s global engagement based on input from each of the University\u2019s schools, centers, and institutes and public programming, primarily for use in stewarding philanthropy.
Regularly consult with University Advancement\u2019s chief global affairs officer in shaping communications products to be responsive to donor interests.
Manage, and provide regular content to, Global Affairs social media accounts.
Support the Office of Global Affairs and its constituents in the development of up-to-date websites.
Develop a network of internal and external press contacts for use in publicizing news stories about the University\u2019s global engagement.
Manage public programming at the University on global themes, including supporting speakers, managing publicity, coordinating invitations, arranging venues, and providing logistical support; collaborating as appropriate with other University entities.
Chair bi-annual meeting of University schools, centers, institutes, and other entities to coordinate scheduling of globally-oriented events on Grounds.
Oversee the part-time work of an occasional graduate student intern.
Minimum Qualifications
Master"s degree and at least five years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Good oral/written/visual communication and editorial skills.
Familiarity and facility with social media accounts.
Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Initiative in developing interpersonal networks and soliciting information.
Effective project management skills.
Good sense of strategic judgment in setting priorities.
This position is Hybrid located in Charlottesville, VA.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $75,000-$90,000 commensurate with education and experience.
