Job Description BAE Systems’ Intelligence & Security Sector (I&S) is seeking a Director, Business Development – Naval Air Systems Command for its Integrated Defense Solutions (IDS) business area reporting directly to the Vice President, Business Winning for IDS. This professional will partner with the BAE NAVAIR/C5ISR leadership team to drive the organization’s strategic growth objectives by developing and refining an understanding of customers’ most important needs and creating/leading winning capture strategies. This position will identify, qualify, and support the capture of NAVAIR and Naval Aviation Enterprise opportunities. In addition, this individual will plan and recommend BD and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth. The position can be located in the National Capital Region but requires frequent travel to company and/or customer locations; it will cover NAVAIR, NAWCAD, NAWC AD/TSD, and NAWC WD as well as Fleet stakeholders. The major location is Patuxent River/Leonardtown, MD.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Grow the opportunity pipeline, to include existing as well as adjacent markets/customers, through diligent and timely identification/qualification of new business opportunities by leveraging current technologies, customer relationships, and inter-company collaboration
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans for the pursuit and successful capture of key opportunities
- Lead the creation, identification, and qualification of quality opportunities and support capture activities and win strategy execution through contract award
- Develop and shape growth strategies, prioritize new business opportunities, lead strategic responses to sources sought and RFIs, and recommend investments to align with customers’ needs and requirements
- Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits and develop marketing strategies
- Participate in bid decisions, development of cost strategies, and phase reviews
- Establish, build, and maintain customer relationships and assess competitor capabilities aligned to specific Navy customers
- Support creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant Business Development experiences. Relevant recent experience with the customer set may be considered in lieu of the full years.
- Understanding of Naval Aviation missions
- Understanding of, and business development experience with, the various programs and business processes for NAVAIR as well as the Naval Air Warfare Centers. Understanding and experience with the way that programs, budgets, other funding sources, contracts, and other relevant topics work at NAVAIR and NAWC.
- Demonstrated success in leading and winning contracts>$100M
- Ability to identify, establish, and use important customer relationships with senior level officials and program stakeholders within defense and intelligence community
- Demonstrated background in solution selling and developing new markets with proven leadership from inception to fruition of a strategic campaign
- Demonstrated ability to direct and support new business development opportunities to improve the company’s business portfolio to include marketing and customer call plans
- Knowledge of Government contracting and current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors
- Knowledge of competitors and ability to model competitor behaviors in the market
- Candidate must have an Active DOD Secret clearance to be considered
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Operational experience as a Navy or Marine Corps aviation officer or experience in Navy or Marine Corps aviation program management roles as a Government civilian
- Experience as a Navy or Marine Corps aviation office in the OPNAV staff including JCIDS and PPBE experience
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $164000 - $278800

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
