Prince William County Community Services is looking for a Clinical Services Caseworker Associate who is a certified as a peer specialist with firsthand, lived experience with substance use disorder(s) and mental health related diagnoses. We are looking for someone who has had success in long-term recovery to fill our Part-time Peer Support Specialist position. The incumbent will work with individuals struggling with substance use, co-occurring disorders and/or mental health disorders who would benefit from one-on-one support in the community. About This Role: In this role, you will be expected to engage with clients in the community daily and link individuals to resources and support in the community to enhance recovery efforts. You will be expected to document all individual engagement and interactions daily. You will be responsible for providing one-on-one peer support to assist individuals in recovery goal setting. You will work directly with your clients to help them to define, create, and move towards their own recovery goals. The person in this role must be able to work in a diverse population to meet the needs of our community. You will be expected to be familiar with resources in the area and have a working knowledge of recovery tools to assist individuals in their recovery process. You will be able to work with a treatment team to include therapists, case managers, and other professionals and will meet with the treatment team regularly regarding your clients. You will be working closely with community partners to include police, fire and rescue, the ADC, and the PWC health department. You will be expected to collaborate with these other departments, agencies, and community resources on a regular basis and maintain healthy and professional boundaries with all clients, staff, and community partners. In this role you will need to be mindful of HIPAA and privacy regulations that are relevant to the services you provide. You will be expected to stay up to date on all required state and agency training and you will be provided with regular supervision.
Preferences:
5 years of experience working with adults who have substance use, co-occurring or mental health disorders
1-2 years of experience providing recovery services in a human services environment
Must be Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
Must have lived experience in substance use, co-occurring or mental health disorders with a minimum 2 years of recovery
Experience assessing client needs and providing access to appropriate services
Experience providing clinical documentation necessary to maintain client records including treatment planning/wellness recovery plan, progress notes, quarterly reviews and annual assessments
Be a proficient user level of MS Suite and an EHR
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling or a related behavioral science field
Bilingual/Spanish-speaking
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid driver's license;
Must pass DMV record check;
Must pass TB Test;
Certification in First Aid and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, as required.
Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprinted based national criminal history record check.
Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services
Work Schedule: 2 -3 days per week (18.75 hours per week), some evening hours may be required 2 full time days and 1 half day per week Starting Salary Range: $32.11 - $39.72
