Position Overview:
The Manager, Accounting is responsible for working with Accounting Management to account for global transactions in accordance with US GAAP, tracking these transactions for internal and external reporting purposes, and reviewing schedules that support financial data disclosed to the public. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for managing the accounting team members.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger/Financial Statements
- Manage the overall coordination of the month-end close within the accounting team to meet company’s reporting deadline.
- Review various consolidated AR and revenue workpapers for global portfolio and approve corresponding journal entries.
- Analyze and interpret AR and revenue GL data to ensure proper revenue recognition under US GAAP.
- Review and assist Accountants with monthly fluctuation analysis.
- Review straight-line rent analysis and adjusting entries.
- Prepare/review AR and revenue related quarterly financial disclosures and board materials for company’s public fillings and board meetings.
External/Internal Audit
- Assist in audits and analysis of consolidated level financials, as well as leading walk-throughs of internal controls.
- Document and certify accounting procedures and processes.
Other Responsibilities
- Supervise, train and lead Accountants for their personal growth and to accomplish company/department’s objectives.
- Collaborate with the Senior Accounting Manager to establish weekly and monthly work schedules for accountants.
- Research, interpret and apply accounting standards as needed.
- Support/back up other accounting functions as needed.
- Consistently review current processes for improvement.
- Cross-train accountants to provide backup coverage.
- Performs other special projects as assigned.
- Work with external and internal parties to resolve accounting issues.
- Present updates on process changes to the team and wider organization.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a clear and thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Ability to research and summarize new or newly applicable accounting standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high growth environment and meet public company reporting deadlines.
- Must be organized, detailed, flexible, efficient, and take ownership of own work product.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to supervise and lead others.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience, including management experience.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- 2-3+ years of public accounting experience preferred.
- Real estate industry experience preferred.
What you will get in return:
The base salary for this role is in the range of $98,568 - $158,543. You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
