What you’ll do?
The Production Planner seeks the most efficient use of production labor and material deliveries against open orders, historical or forecasted demand in order to successfully maintain acceptable delivery lead time to our valued customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using the MRP system, plan fabrication, sub-assembly and final assembly lines including the required production of replacement parts and kits.
- Monitors and collaborates with production and material handling related to the movement of materials to ensure that production schedules are met.
- Conducts procurement duties in support of production related raw materials, including creating purchase orders requisitions, obtaining quotes, applying discounts, and using logical application of pricing, seeking input from direct manager and/or the Plant Manager as needed.
- Collaborate with production and material handling teams to prioritize schedules & proper allocation of capacity.
- Collaborates with purchasing and/or supply chain related to delays and/or supplier inability to deliver raw materials or component parts on schedule.
- Identify and communicate capacity constraints and make recommendations for resolution.
- Identify and communicate material constraints and make recommendations for resolution.
- Participates and provides input into special projects, reporting business results, problem identification and solutions.
- Ability to interpret the requirements within the SKU level bill of materials.
- Act as a backup to document control activities, such as creating new part numbers, kits, revision number maintenance, or engineering innovations.
- Seeks innovative ways to streamline processes, increase throughput and achieve planning team and production efficiency targets.
What you need to be successful in this role:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in MRP Production Planning with raw material procurement responsibilities.
- Prior experience supporting the planning of products with multi-layered Bill of Materials.
- Strong Math acumen
- Excellent Computer skills, proficient in MS Office Suite
- Proficient in planning and procurement systems, JDE and/or SAP highly desired.
- Must have the aptitude of working in a team and taking decisions based on study and evaluation
- Works well under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strategic thinking and active listening skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be organized, detail- oriented, and able to work independently.
- Sustains a high level of accuracy and understands the cost implications of errors.
