POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Workforce Development sets direction for workforce development strategy and tactics for LifeBridge, manages the Workforce Development Specialists and represents the organization regarding community-based workforce development initiatives.
Essential Functions:
WFD Facilitation: Coordinates and facilitates workforce development classes and oversees curriculum development for incumbent worker classes. Facilitate School at Work program. Develops curriculum and teaches workforce development classes, such as reading and math skills. Oversees coordination of basic skills course offerings (PC Training, Business Writing, Medical Terminology, etc.).
Strategy: Develops strategy; researches, develops and communicates the LBH workforce development strategy and annual budget. Provides strategic vision for advancement of front line/entry level employees. Communicates workforce development opportunities with employees and managers. Collaborates with local educational institutions to enhance educational opportunities for LifeBridge employees.
Career Coaching: Provides all aspects of career coaching to incumbent workers throughout LifeBridge. Administers career interest and educational assessments. Counsels employees on educational options using career ladders. Undertakes career assessment activities with employees.
Grants Support: In coordination with the LBH Development Department, provides all requested grant support. Provides data to support grant requests. Provides grant narrative with program details. Secures letters of support for the grant request. Provides outcomes and other data post award.
Community Involvement: Contacts and builds a network of relationships with organizations, educational institutions and government offices dedicated to meeting the workforce development needs of LBH and the community. Represents LBH on Baltimore City and County workforce Development Committees. Coordinates and implements internal and external workforce development training programs. Serves as the LBH liason for external workforce development programs. Coordinates youth career development programs, including the Building Bridges Mentoring Program, school-based health care career activities, and other programs as requested.
WFD Team Management and Development: Manages the Workforce Development team members to ensure positive outcomes for the employees they coach. Assesses and evaluates WFD specialists' performance. Builds skills and abilities of WFD specialists.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field.
- Bachelor's in education, sociology, psychology.
- 5-7 years of experience.
