CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Part-time Event Personnel position is primarily responsible for custodial duties. Part-time employees will report to an operations Supervisor who is responsible for the direction of housekeeping services in the Baltimore Convention Center. The incumbent is responsible for the daily maintenance and custodial responsibilities for both the public and private sections of the facility. This is a non-exempt position and is considered non-essential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Clean and disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture.
- Sweep, mop, and/or vacuum floors.
- Empty, clean, and line wastebaskets and recycling containers inside and outside of the facility.
- Clean and dust walls, lockers, furniture, and fixtures.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies as directed.
- Polish elevators, escalators, railings, and other metal fixtures.
- Wash walls and clean interior and exterior windows.
- Perform related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
AND
EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities and interruptions.
- Knowledge of proper and safe use of custodial equipment, chemicals, tools, etc.
- Ability to operate vacuum, scrubbers, polisher, etc.
- Ability to follow through and carry out assignments.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with fellow staff and diverse constituents.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively read written instructions, manuals, signs, and product labels in English.
- Ability to maintain acceptable work habits, punctuality, and regularity of attendance by arriving and leaving work on time, observing break schedules, and lunch periods.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet daily schedule.
- Ability to assist general public and show promoters with basic questions/problems or obtain a supervisor who can assist.
- Ability to stand and walk for large portions of the day.
- Must be available to flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shift examples include 8am to 2pm, 1pm to 7pm and/or 6pm to 12 midnight.
