The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
3M is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Technologist/Technician to join its manufacturing team located in Perth, ON. The successful candidate will make an impact by providing daily support and engineering expertise and technical assistance for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of highly technical automated equipment; and, additionally, the development of maintenance procedures and techniques to support safe, reliable and efficient implementation of factory automation to include Robotics, Vision Systems, Integration Software, Motion, and Control Systems. This opportunity will require shift work as well as on-call after-hours and weekend support.
As an Electrical Engineer/Technologist/Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Supporting manufacturing operations in electrical controls, programming, software, and application support to automation, robotics, vision, motion control, PLC, and SCADA systems
Identifying, recommending, and implementing ideas in manufacturing areas of responsibility to improve:
Product cost, service, and quality
Process safety and health performance with reduction of overall risk to the factory
Environmental performance with emphasis on waste reduction
Equipment reliability
Leading and implementing improvement projects mentioned above
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Electrical Engineering Technician Diploma (2-year degree) or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
Availability for shift work as well as on-call after-hours and weekend support
One (1) year experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Experience in controls and automation systems design
Effective "Hands On" techniques
Ability to analyze, problem-solve and implement solutions
Excellent computer skills - Excel, Minitab, PowerPoint, and Project
Innovation skills to generate new ideas or alternative solutions
Works well on cross-functional teams in a continuous improvement (LEAN) environment
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work location:
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
