Participate in the hiring, training, and evaluation of circulation desk student workers, student supervisors, late night study monitors, and building monitors and directly supervise students during assigned shifts.
Maintain current student training materials.
Assist the public by answering questions, resolving problems, and providing referrals to other library staff. Develop friendly, cooperative working relationships with library users.
Promote a positive library image in contacts with the public.

Interpret and enforce library policies with patrons. Solve mechanical problems with photocopiers, printers, and microform readers and reader/printers when the regular staff responsible for these machines is not present. Have basic understanding of the mechanics of the circulation workstation setup and troubleshoot routine problems.
Assume major responsibility, directly and through supervision of others, for Terrell Library facilities during scheduled hours. These responsibilities include building security, patron supervision, and building evacuation in the event of fire or other disaster. This includes being fully informed about opening and closing arrangements.
Work closely with the other circulation desk supervisors to ensure consistent and efficient circulation desk service. Provide assistance in responding to circulation system problems. Provide emergency backup and assistance to branch library student staff.
Assume responsibility for specific circulation functions. Examples of these jobs include managing the patron database, handling the annual faculty renewal program, fine reconciliation, and managing the circulation desk schedule.
Other circulation duties as assigned; these may include assisting in other sections of the Circulation Department as time allows. |
