ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists the Foreman in supervising and directing assigned personnel in the performance of job duties.
Inspects scheduled job sites to ensure compliance with instructions, policies, and procedures.
Assists assigned personnel by providing proper supervision and/or actively participating in the performance of assigned duties when necessary to ensure responsibility of assigned areas are met.
Supervises special events preparations such as set up, clean up, etc. during working hours, after hours, and weekends when needed.
Maintains knowledge of assigned vehicles, equipment, and machinery needed to complete work assignments.
Prepares, completes, and submits various reports as needed.
Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies following City and department purchasing and inventory procedures.
Handles the responsibility for accountability and care of assigned materials, equipment, tools, vehicles, and machinery.
Retrieves work orders from Foreman; ensures availability of proper tools for the job.
Inspects vehicles daily such as oil level, fuel level, tire condition / pressure, stability of mirrors, lights functioning properly, checking reverse alarm, and cleanliness.
Reports to work at assigned destinations.
Places caution signs and roadblocks to warn pedestrians and motorists of work being performed.
Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as work orders and verbal instructions.
Prepares and/or process various records and reports such as work orders, vehicle checklist, equipment maintenance sheet, and leave request form.
Refers to maps, equipment manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
Operates variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
Uses a variety of tools such as chainsaw, rake, shovel, hammer, measuring tape, pick, etc.; and a variety of supplies such as chains, oil, blades, wood blocks, wood stakes, cement, nails, general office supplies, etc.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Foreman, coworkers, subordinates, contractors, and the general public.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
May perform tree and/or grass cutting in the City.
May drive various trucks; hauls trailers loaded with work equipment.
Cleans drainage; removes debris when needed due to inclement weather.
Performs sanitation duties such as picking litter in the community.
Performs other related duties as required.
May be required to report to work during emergency situations, including, but not limited to, city-wide declared emergencies.
