EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR RELATED EXPERIENCE: - High school or vocational school graduate or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge and use of the English language
- Six months to one-year minimum experience as a wellness, health or fitness coach or teacher.
REASONING COMPETENCY: · Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. · Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. · Ability to exhibit maturity, good judgment, and flexibility LANGUAGE COMPETENCY: · Ability to read & interpret documents such as email correspondences, safety rules, and procedure manuals. · Ability to relate, speak, and cooperate effectively before groups of customers, students, clients or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL COMPETENCY: · Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. · Basic knowledge of inventory, creating spreadsheets, and record keeping principles PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: · 1 year experience of wellness coaching and or teaching. · Ability to assess strengths, barriers and coping skills around wellness. · Able to articulate a sustainable wellness vision. · Able to apply coaching skills such as curious inquiry, empathy, reflective listening, and goal setting. · Ability to exhibit and maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, appearance, behavior, and attitude. · Must work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and campus faculty, staff, and students. · Promptly reports personal injury to Supervisor and seeks first aid as required. OTHER TRAINING OR CERTIFICATION: · Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Psychology, Social Work or related field (Preferred but not required) · Valid National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching certification. (Preferred, but not required) · California Food Handler Card (Required within 60 days of service) · First Aid Certificate must be acquired during the employee’s probationary period |
