Job Summary
The Engagement Ambassador serves as a resource through the Multicultural Resource Commons (MRC) in support of historically disenfranchised communities at Oberlin College & Conservatory. Student staff work with the other student staff, all full-time MRC staff members, & other incoming professional staff to support the mission & function of the MRC. PAs report directly to the Program Coordinator to provide programming, office support, & outreach. The MRC is looking to hire 1 Engagement Ambassador for the 2024-25 academic year.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of MRC events & programs such as but not limited to: My Name is My Own, Colors of Rhythm, Trans Resource Fair, Undocuweek, & Commencement events.
Promote events through postering across campus, social media posts, & direct outreach.
Record (through photos & videos) & post live program content.
Connect with, attend, & document events by identity-based student organizations.
Create social media graphics for heritage months, history months, cultural recognition days, and general engagement posts.
Manage the MRC’s Weekly newsletter, email, phone, & social media accounts.
Assist in managing center operations.
Participate in weekly meetings with the Program Coordinator & Student Staff Liaisons.
Tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Effective written & oral communication.
Comfortable interacting with members of the college & local community across identities.
Familiarity with social media & must have access to Instagram.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of social justice principles.
Good grasp on designing posters/flyers & other marketing materials. Can use Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, and/or Illustrator.
Available to work during Commencement (we can help with arranging housing).

Compensation
Starting at $11.00/hour with an estimate of 6 hours per week scheduled. Typical hours are scheduled between 9 am & 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekend & after-hour events requirements throughout the academic year.
