This Academic Department Administrator position provides administrative support to the faculty and students of the Religion Department, including the Peace Studies Program, and the MA and Certificate programs in Islamic Studies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing the departmental budget (e.g., faculty reimbursements, awards to MA students, endowment funds, etc.)
- Administering adjunct/faculty hiring, compensation adjustments, and supplemental compensation
- Scheduling and advertising courses
- Answering department e-mail and phone
- Administering course evaluations
- Overseeing building maintenance and office supplies (e.g., scheduling equipment maintenance, requesting building repairs, stocking supplies, distributing mail, etc.)
- Maintaining the department website and social media accounts
- Editing the annual newsletter
- Coordinating special events
- Acting as liaison between the department and students, faculty, the broader university, prospective students, and other outside guests and visitors
- Assisting with student registration, grade adjustments, major/minor forms, edits in the course bulletin, etc.
- Scheduling department meetings and taking minutes
- Managing academic honor society inductions
- Reviewing existing procedures and proactively recommending new procedures to improve the management and functionality of the department

Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |
