ITS INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIST
FULL-TIME TEACHING STAFF
(TEACHER ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Works with students, parents, faculty and school administrators on the planning, usage and implementation of academic technology initiatives and curriculum development. Performs basic software and hardware troubleshooting with academic users in schools. Provides professional development training opportunities for District students, faculty and staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES: - Partner with content directors, teachers and District office staff to design, deliver, and support technology-based projects to augment curriculum and other District technology offerings
- Train/assist teachers to address planned as well as ad hoc technology needs. Results to include relevant, quality training materials that can be reused in the future.
- Based on skills, assume responsibility for the management of the District’s Library Management System and assist in administration/training of the Koha LMS to faculty in District schools.
- Assist teachers with the functionality of interactive projectors/displays and with developing the skills to leverage interactivity in the classroom with Smart, Promethean, Epson, Aver products
- Assume project management responsibilities for various special projects and training events
- Required to respond to and maintain academic support technical ticket queue
- Other academic technical support and training duties as assigned
KEY SKILLS: - Elementary, Secondary or High School classroom teaching experience required
- Creative, innovative, and passionate about education and technology
- Strong written, oral and technical expressive communication skills
- Ability to interact positively with all levels of technical aptitude including students, parents, faculty and staff with no prior technology experience
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both in-person, virtual or hybrid settings
- Ability and desire to quickly learn about new technology and seek further learning opportunities
- Detail-oriented, results-focused with a strong work ethic
QUALIFICATIONS: - State of Connecticut teaching certificate (013) required or equivalent
- State of Connecticut School Library Media Specialist (062) endorsement preferred
- Master’s degree preferred in Information Technology/Library Media Science
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience of usage of technology in the academic field
- Experience providing support and end-user troubleshooting of Windows, Apple and Google based hardware and instructional documentation of usage.
- Excellent troubleshooting techniques and consciousness of impact to academic instruction
- Strong organizational skills with emphasis on detail and follow-up
