About the Position
As a Cloud Solutions Engineer at SPA, you will be assigned to support the US Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC), Operational Command and Control Acquisition Delta, known as Kobayashi Maru. Kobayashi Maru is responsible for continuously delivering impactful software for space operations. The program office’s mission includes the development and deployment of software for space defense, space domain awareness, and enabling data services.
This role is primarily focused on the management, administration, and optimization of the Kobayashi Maru Platform and Infrastructure technical baseline. This includes baseline management of the (1) hybrid cloud environments at multiple security classification levels, (2) the data layer, (3) the messaging systems, (4) networking, and (5) version/configuration control of the deployed/hosted software.
In this position, you will be expected to understand each component and document the complete architecture of the current hybrid cloud platform and infrastructure implementation. You will provide comprehensive recommendations for improving and optimizing the existing solution. You will be responsible for enabling successful accomplishment of performance objectives for scalability, reliability, security, resiliency, efficiency, and observability. You will be expected to have a deep understanding of the major components of the hybrid cloud solution – including the principles of GitOps, effective implementation of DevSecOps, operations within a hybrid cloud environment across multiple security domains, optimizing messaging systems for distributed architectures, as well as effective data processing, storage, and retrieval solutions. You will document architectures, dependencies, interfaces, workflows, and processes for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will collaborate with multiple teams responsible for implementing each component of the hybrid cloud platform and infrastructure to ensure their alignment with enterprise level objectives and roadmaps, to understand blockers, report status, and collect metrics.
This is a hybrid position. You will be expected to work on-site with the Government customer at an off-Base location in either El Segundo, CA or Colorado Springs, CO at least 3 days per week due to the fast pace, quick-turn nature of the job and the persistent need to access secure networks. Thus, residing in comfortable driving distance of El Segundo or Colorado Springs should be considered.
