The incumbent supports and performs preventative maintenance, and scheduled and unscheduled repairs on critical equipment utilized in hospitals supported by UCSF Health Facilities and Support Services. Includes, not limited to the following:
• Patient Care Beds: Electronic and mechanical components of patient care devices including special care, hydraulic and pneumatic beds, rebuilding systems down to component level by following prints, schematics, or verbal instructions from vendors or in-house technicians.
• Nurse-call systems.
• Sterilizers, cart washers and autoclaves.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

• Associate degree in Electronics Technology, or graduation from a school with an equivalent curriculum, or 3 years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician
• Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word
• Certification from Hill-Rom/Stryker bed training
- Minimum three (3) years of work experience as a Mechanician at a Medical Center.
- Minimum three (3) year’ experience with a computerized maintenance management system.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a hospital or health care environment experience.
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Ability to develop preventative maintenance procedures on equipment, based on Manufacture Requirements.
- Proven troubleshooting diagnostic ability – problem-solving mandatory.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, work cooperatively with vendors and with university staff.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fluid work environment under pressure.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills with both Stakeholders and team members.
- Motivated self-starter with critical thinking skills able to work effectively without supervision.
- Proven experience repairing and maintaining electric, hydraulic and pneumatic beds or similar equipment.
- Proven knowledge and experience with a computerized maintenance management program.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.
