New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Physician Spec Per Diem for NJMS- Radiation Oncology. The primary purpose of the Physician Specialist position is to coordinate all aspects of radiation therapy for patients. Responsible for all aspects of clinical patient care including, but not limited to, consultation, simulation, planning, treatment and follow-up.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Evaluates and manages patients with complex cancers; provide radiation therapy to patients referred to the practice.
- Utilizes technologies including external Beam RT, electron beam, IMRT, IGRT, 3D-CRT, stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy and proton therapy.
- Responsible for all aspects of patient care including consultation, simulation, planning, treatment and follow-up; consults with other attending physicians regarding patient care. May supervise medical personnel; collaborates with nursing staff, social workers, case managers and other healthcare professionals.
- Participates in resident education
- Completes appropriate documentation for services rendered in a timely fashion, in accordance with the requirements of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payers
- Participates on committees related to optimal patient care such as chart rounds
