PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the role is to own and manage the market success of our Plasma Cutting product line, ensuring that it meets the needs of our customers and the overall Commercial Products growth objectives. This individual is responsible for being a subject matter expert and defining the product's vision, strategy, and roadmap, and for coordinating cross-functional global teams to deliver high-quality products that delight our customers, achieve business growth, and remain competitive in the market. They will serve as the business champion of the portfolio, balancing user feedback, market knowledge, and technical considerations to make informed data driven decisions and prioritize features and improvements to maximize the product's value and impact in the market.
JOB DESCRIPTION | DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Subject Matter Expert – Develop expert knowledge an in-depth understanding of the global Plasma Cutting market
- Life Cycle Product Management - Develop a clear and compelling product vision and strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and managing a portfolio that addresses market needs and opportunities
- Perform Market Research – Manage an ongoing research process to capture voice of customer information, industry trends, competitive intelligence and more
- Product Roadmap - Create and maintain a 3-5 year product roadmap that outlines the product line’s development and evolution over time, including feature prioritization
- Business Case Creation – Work independently or with business unit manager to propose data driven product improvements or new product designs which drive incremental sales, profit and market share
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to ensure alignment and successful product development and launch
- New Product Launches – Coordinate with Commercialization Manager to plan and execute product launches, including marketing strategies, communication plans, and sales enablement
- Product Training & Support – Provide technical product support for end-users, distributors, trainers and Lincoln personnel on relevant product lines
- Mature Product Management – Manage and lead a broad range of activities which include creating strategic product promotions, managing inventory forecasting, assessing product rationalization and proposing applicable cost reductions
- Sales Channel Support – Engage in program development relative to managing and driving growth within the Distributor, Direct, MRO, E-commerce and Education sales channels
- Financial Analysis – Manage and achieve financial performance of the relevant product lines commensurate with organizational goals
- 2025 Higher Standard Strategy - Assume additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Higher Standard Strategy
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate Product Manager: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field or Associate Degree in the same fields with 2+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- Product Manager: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field and 3+ years of relevant experience or Associate Degree in the same fields with 5+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- Senior Product Manager: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience preferably in Sales, Marketing, Engineering or Product Management. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be considered.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Understanding of welding and cutting practices, procedures and products is preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on tactical projects across multiple areas of the organization
- Demonstrate a strong business acumen and analytical skillset along with the desire to learn relatively quickly
- Ability to articulate and excel in high level communication across a broad range of stakeholders
- Prior product marketing, sales or management experience is a plus
- Willing to travel approximately 15%+ of the time
