Heluna Health invites applications for the Project Coordinator position in the Center for Public Health Research (CPHR) at the San Francisco Department of Public Health. CPHR has developed methods and strategies for tracking the HIV Epidemic that have been used locally and around the globe since the 1980s. The CPHR Investigators are global leaders in the epidemiology of HIV infection, HIV research training methods, and informing HIV prevention approaches.
This Project Coordinator position will work as part of a larger effort for the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance (NHBS) study funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. NHBS is part of national efforts to better serve people who inject drugs in response to HIV in the United States. Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Project Coordinator will lead this innovative project to recruit, survey, and conduct HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and hepatitis C testing. Due to the nature of the study, work hours will include daytime, evening, and weekends, emphasizing late evenings. Successful candidates must be prepared to work late evening and weekend hours. Must have open and flexible availability to meet program needs.
This is a temporary, grant-funded, full-time, benefitted position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health. This is a hybrid position that requires some in person work.
Pay range: $35.00-$38.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Study coordination
• Manage staff needs, coordinate staff meetings, coordinate data collection efforts
• Train and supervise field staff and phlebotomist
• Provide day-to-day supervision of field activities
• Conduct ongoing quality assurance of data collection and study activities
• Manage HIV, STI, and HEP C lab results
• Manage data entry and upload to CDC
• Manage all study communications between study staff
• Report regularly to CDC project officers and in national project communications
• Report regularly to the Principal investigator and Program Coordinator on study activities, including key concerns and successes of the project
• Travel to CDC-sponsored meetings and trainings, if needed
Managing Study Visits and Participant Education
• Serve as the primary point of contact for study participants
• Implement all locally developed procedures, including safety and incident reporting
• Conduct community outreach and education about the study
• Train and supervise field staff to: Obtain informed consent, interview study participants, and complete detailed data forms, including proper documentation of HIV/STI and hepatitis C testing activities, including consent; ensure adherence to HIV testing, STI, and hepatitis C specimen collection procedures; oversee maintenance of HIV testing specimen collection supplies; maintain and ship HIV/STI and hepatitis C test specimens; receive and log HIV/STI and hepatitis C test results from lab; return STI and HEP C results to participants.
• Manage participant incentives and recruiter remuneration
• Oversee participant linkage to HIV, STI, and hepatitis C prevention and care services, where needed
• Ensure participants receive their HIV, STI, and hepatitis C test results
• Provide appropriate referrals and assist participants with navigating social services in the San Francisco Bay Area
Other Responsibilities
• Contribute to other Center for Public Health Research projects as needed
• Participate in meetings and quality control activities
• Create study documents as needed
• Perform other duties as required
Education/Experience/Licenses
• Masters of Public Health (MPH) preferred
• Desired experience in coordinating and organizing health research
• Desired experience in service delivery and/or other adjacent field compensates for education/research experience
• Desired experience in research, including one or more of the following areas: conducting interviews, obtaining informed consent, maintaining confidential records in a research environment, social and behavioral research, services to people who inject drugs populations
• Desired experience supervising staff
