Responsibilities:
- Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality and a home-like environment for Residents.
- Monitors inventory of chemicals, supplies and equipment needed for laundry and housekeeping tasks.
- Communicates chemical, supply and equipment needs to Executive Director.
- Maintains required records; notifies the Maintenance Director on observed maintenance issues and/or repairs needed.
- Implements cleaning schedules of Residents’ apartments, laundry, kitchen and common areas to assure completion of housekeeping tasks.
- Performs housekeeping tasks, as assigned.
- Provides laundry services as needed and/or directed.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
- Observes problems, concerns and issues observed with Resident apartments, the Community and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
- Observes changes in Resident status, needs or preferences and communicates them appropriately.
- Observes other problems and communicates them appropriately.
- Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
- Records Resident information as required.
- Avoids loss, breakage and waste of supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety and other emergencies.
- Trains Community Team Members on the systems, equipment use, housekeeping and cleaning standards to include chemical usage.
- Adheres to OSHA requirements in safety and training of staff.
- Observes all work, safety and administrative policy training in performing all job assignments.
- Attends in-service training as required.
- Reports all suspicions of abuse, neglect and/or financial exploitations of a Resident immediately to the supervisor, as
- described in the Company’s policy and procedures on reporting.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Meet continuing education requirements and certifications on job classification and position, including state requirements.
- 5+ years of experience working as a housekeeper, preferably in a senior living setting.
- 5-7 years of directing and leading a housekeeping team.
Skill/ knowledge requirements:
- Working knowledge of equipment, supplies and chemicals used for housekeeping and laundry tasks. Experience in working in a licensed care setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate and work with all levels of the Company’s management staff and Community Department Managers and Community Team Members effectively.
- Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule.
- Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks; requires minimal supervision.
- Displays cleanliness, good grooming, and personal appearance and follows dress requirements.
- Displays ability/willingness to learn new skills and to teach others.
- Ability to recognize and communicate problems appropriately.
- Ability to relate to the public, Residents, families, Community Team Members and other professionals appropriately.
- Ability/willingness to follow policy and procedures and state regulations.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in English, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet requirements of the job.
- Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
- Is neat, accurate, and dependable and keeps work space clean.
- Displays willingness to assist co-works when situation requires.
- Ability to transfer residents. Maintains car in good working order, current driver’s license in good standing and auto insurance meeting company minimums is current.
- Demonstrates management skills in supervising staff.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Demonstrates team player with a positive attitude; able to work with Community Team Members and Regional Company staff.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and provide information as requested and required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly.
- Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching and stooping.
