Position Summary: Advises Lead and Manager of daily work unit activities. Provides functional direction and guidance to associates. Preparesand provides clear and concise information for shift reports. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Reports anyequipment problems to Management. Works directly with the Lead Tech and Manager to achieve the goals of thedepartment and provide quality service. Takes the initiative and responsibility to resolve problems. Maintains a strongworking relationship with surgery to provide quality service in a timely manner. Assures proper decontamination,disinfection, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instrumentation, equipment and medicalsupplies. Assures that materials and supplies are maintained at adequate levels to provide uninterrupted service.Performs washer/decontaminator, ultrasonic, plasma, low heat and sterilizer equipment testing. Assures all departmentalrecords are accurately maintained. Performs IFU research. Follows vendor tray process for receiving and returns Loaners.Assist with Durable Medical Equipment. Provides clear and concise communication when responding to phone request.Maintains quality standards by adhering to local, regional, infection control and regulatory agencies (TITLE 22requirements, ANSI/AAME and AORN standards). May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications [Required]: High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years experience in Sterile Processing working in Surgery; able to work independently withminimal supervision; knowledge of training, educating Associates and new hires; experience in problem solving ofdepartmental workflow based on surgical procedures; experienced in analyzing and determining instrumentation; strongworking knowledge of surgical instruments for all surgical services; advanced knowledge in Surgical Specialtyinstrumentation (Robotics, Laparoscopic, Reposable); observe departmental patient experience plan, competencies andpractices; able to multitask in high pace environment; able to operate and troubleshoot sterile processing equipment (i.e.sterilizers, Scope Re-processors, Ultrasonic, Washer Decontaminators); knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology andmicrobiology; experience working with general instrumentation, house wide kits and trays and surgical trays; knowledge ofvendor tray process; experienced with Durable Medical Equipment; ability to lift and carry twenty-five (25) pounds; capableof pushing and pulling carts; tolerate prolonged standing; possess effective verbal and written communication skills, e.g.,phone etiquette; able to perform basic mathematical calculations and be computer literate; able to work effectively in ateam environment; act as a role model; knowledge and understanding of ANSIA/AAMI, AORN and title 22 standards.
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Instrument Technician (CIS)
Salary range: $20.90 - $29.40
