Salary Range: $29.3000 - $45.0300 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Safety and Disaster Coordinator will coordinate, develop, and maintain the Safety and Emergency Management programs from an all-hazard approach for Hoag Hospital and its affiliates.
The Safety & Disaster Coordinator will ensure Hoag Hospital and its affiliates are in continuous compliance with city, state, and federal requirements and regulations and will coordinate applicable department education as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Participates and coordinates meeting agendas and minutes for the Environment of Care Committee and Emergency Management Committee
- Conducts safety and facilities rounds
- Develops training and review of safe work practices
- Conducts analysis of incident date for cause and hazards to health
- Develops, reviews and implements safety and emergency/disaster training programs
- Reviews all safety and emergency management plans, policies, and procedures annually and revise as necessary
- Coordinates and facilitates safety training and emergency/disaster drills
- Maintains disaster equipment and supply inventories
- Schedules hazardous waste pickups and signs manifest for all Hoag facilities
- Maintains and process new EPA ID applications for Hoag facilities
- Maintains hazardous waste manifest tracking
- Completes hazardous waste reporting
- Responds to hazardous waste spills
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
High School Graduate or equivalent required. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus healthcare database systems required.
Minimum of three years’ experience in at least three of the areas: healthcare, facility coordination, project management, fire, safety, industrial hygiene/hazardous materials, emergency management, sustainability. Knowledge of applicable DNV, licensing, city, state, federal regulatory standards and requirements, including but not limited to NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, DTSC/EPA, Cal-OSHA, fed-OSHA, CCR Titles 8, 22, and 26. Experience in adult education and training programs
License Required
- Current CA driver’s license for local travel

- 40 HR Hazwoper
- ICS 100, 200, and 700
Certifications Preferred
- Cal/OSHA Outreach 10-hour – General Industry
- Cal/OSHA Outreach 30-hour – General Industry
