The Enterprise Ground Division (EGD) supports the Space Systems Command Battle Management Command, Control and Communications (SSC/BMC3) organization at Los Angeles Air Force Base. EGD provides systems engineering, acquisition, development and integration support of Space Domain Awareness processing. operational Command and Control (C2), data transport and networking capabilities. Areas of expertise include modern software development and deployment practices, secure information technology infrastructure, ground antenna capabilities, communications and networking. EGD personnel work in close collaboration with government customers in the program office and the operational stakeholders.
This requisition is seeking a highly motivated candidate to act as the lead technical representative to the customer to develop and implement strategies to leverage commercial capabilities to provide services complementary to the (AF)SCN resulting in increased capacity and resilience for satellite telemetry, tracking and control. The selected candidate will apply leadership and acquisition expertise, interfacing with commercial providers, mission partners and programs for potential customers/users, and the commercial services office. The selected candidate will also lead efforts to develop/leverage modeling capabilities to evaluate space, ground and space-ground network resiliency.
Work Model: This position is located in El Segundo. Regular onsite presence is needed to work with the customer and colleagues with an expectation of a minimum 3 days per week in the office or more if required by the customer.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as technical representative to the customer to develop architecture and implement strategy to leverage commercial capabilities as the core for network capabilities as service complementary to the (AF)SCN.
- Lead Aerospace teammates, including Aerospace Engineering Group (ETG), to develop and deliver quality products.
- Coordinate and lead efforts to develop/leverage modeling capability to evaluate space, ground and space-ground architecture resiliency.
- Collaborate in a multi-disciplined and multi-organizational environment and provide technical status and recommendations to Aerospace and Government leadership.
- Interface across organizations and programs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customer leadership, commercial providers, contractors, Aerospace engineering support (ETG).
- Monitor and assist in development of budgets and other resource allocations to accomplish tasks.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or an appropriate technical discipline from an accredited institution.
- 12 or more years of engineering/scientific experience, including experience in the acquisition/development of ground capabilities for space systems (antennas and ground entry points, networks and data centers, resource management/orchestration).
- Familiarity with government system acquisition processes.
- Excellent social skills enabling effective communication with customers, direct reports, and senior management.
- Exhibit exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
- Ability to travel as required (approx. 5%).
- Active Top Secret / SCI clearance with ability to maintain clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced academic degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
- Demonstrated experience in the development, integration and test of software-intensive systems and/or in communications network capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and/or leading modeling and simulation efforts.
- Prior program office role in direct support of a government customer
- Demonstrated ability to interface customers or leaders in the commercial industry
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Practical knowledge of USSF satellite command and control infrastructure and operations
- A working knowledge of Aerospace engineering matrix support personnel and processes and experience managing Aerospace engineering matrix support and laboratory resources.
- Current Special Access (SAP) clearance

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
