Job Description Summary
The Design / Create / Innovate Lab is seeking candidates that are enthusiastic about learning many different methods of fabrication but who are also interested in creating an inclusive culture in this space. The student lead employee will work with Miyuki Weldon to assist in all aspects of equipment use and training both users and other student workers.
Responsibilities
Be present in the Makerspace during scheduled shifts to oversee use of equipment
Operate the point of sale (POS) to sell materials for the DCI Lab
Learn and become proficient in several different pieces of equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, waterjet, CNC mill, etc)
Assist in teaching other students how to operate the equipment
Write documentation on best practices for other students regarding the use of the equipment
Maintain a comfortable and accessible environment in the Makerspace
Taking a lead role on larger projects and planning Makerspace events
Required Qualifications
Experience working in the DCI Lab Makerspace
Willingness to create a welcoming environment that encourages students to use the space
Excellent communication skills
Ability to manage time wisely
Desired Qualifications
Experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, and other digital fabrication tools
Experience teaching or mentoring others
