Serves as the specialist to the supervisor or manager of projects, programs or initiatives. Provide administrative support, schedule meetings and ensure deadlines are met. Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. An Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited two year or four year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. One year of full-time paid experience in government or private industry is required. Substitution: Completion of a fellowship program, apprentice program, or other similar program; OR completion of a certification program, i.e., Project Management, Human Resources, etc. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License or State-issued identification card. Must be proficient utilizing all Microsoft Office products.

Under the general direction of the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and Deputy Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing emergency preparedness and response initiatives to ensure community resilience against public health emergencies. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, developing emergency response plans, conducting training and exercises, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Emergency Planning and Coordination:
Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive emergency preparedness and response plans.
Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations and community partners, to integrate public health preparedness efforts.
Serve as a liaison during emergency incidents, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration among all parties involved.
Training and Exercises:
Design and conduct training programs for public health staff and community partners on emergency response protocols and procedures.
Organize and lead drills and exercises to test emergency plans, identify gaps, and implement improvements.
Develop educational materials and resources for public health emergency preparedness.
Community Outreach and Education:
Engage with community groups, schools, and businesses to promote public health emergency awareness and preparedness.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to community partners on emergency preparedness best practices.
Coordinate public information campaigns and distribute educational materials to the public.
Compliance and Reporting
Ensure all emergency preparedness activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.

The individual who fills this role will also serve in the capacity of a first responder in the event of a public health emergency.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in public health emergency preparedness or a related field.
Knowledge of public health principles, emergency management practices, and federal, state, and local regulations.
