Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Is responsible for delivering superior customer service. Smiles and greets customers, answers non-medical questions, does suggestive selling, handles special requests, assists in resolving minor customer issues in a prompt and courteous manner.
Assists customers at the register by processing sales of prescriptions, OTC products, groceries, and other various items for sale.
Assists in identifying customer’s needs, helps to locate product, and promote products and services. Works with the pharmacists to resolve any customer issues or problems.
Operates and maintains a working knowledge of equipment to help provide service to customers including but not limited to the register, phones, computers, fax machines, scanners, prescription processing system and other department equipment.
Retrieves prescriptions and prescription refills from customers and other necessary information required for prescription processing. Prepares prescriptions for the pharmacist by assigning wait times, data entering, counting the medication, and labeling the prescription.
Works with patients and insurance companies to resolve any insurance related opportunities to produce a paid claim for the patient.
Assists customers in completing first time patient information documents utilizing a patient information form. Requesting any insurance or patient discount cards and entering into the prescription processing system.
Provides customer assistance during prescription pick up by retrieving prescriptions from will call, scanning prescriptions to verify the correct prescription is selected, gathering electronic signatures for HIPAA acknowledgment and third-party payment if applicable, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Assists Pharmacists to control inventories by keeping products well stocked. May order, receive and check in wholesaler orders. Logs invoices in inventory log and takes invoices to receiving clerk. Keeps shelves stocked as shipments arrive (including OTC’s). Removes outdated or recalled products, processes paperwork for manufacturer returns or medication transfers.
Provide operational support to the pharmacists on duty and ensures and maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Reports, immediately, any suspected prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
Understands and follows applicable Federal and State Laws (e.g., HIPPA), regulations (e.g., OSHA), professional standards, and ethical principles. Complies with Weis policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and protect patient privacy.
Promotes eligible services to patients including but not limited to autofill, medication synchronization, text alerts, and immunizations.
Supports pharmacist in preparing Medication Therapy Management cases.
Performs additional job-related responsibilities and duties as necessary or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position currently has no supervisor responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
• Valid driver’s license for business travel purposes.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Pharmacy Technician Licenses in states requiring licensure.
• Approved and active National Certified Technician certification
