Overview
Works under the supervision of the Engineering Manager with minimum of supervision.
Responsible for the creation and editing of complicated machine code using CAD/CAM.
Must be able to design tooling/fixtures needed for machining.
Must be familiar with standard milling and turning machines and standard machine shop practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Creates detail drawings for manufacturing process plans for sheet metal, extruded, and machined detail parts.
Tool/fixture design
Generates CNC machine code prior to release to production.
Verify NC programs with Vericut
Create work instructions for production parts and their required tooling as assigned.
Trouble shoots problem parts and/or part families.
Diagnose and report troubled areas, recommend corrective actions.
Report any unusual conditions or circumstances to supervision.
Maintain configuration control in accordance with recognized standard operating procedures.
May be asked to provide leadership, guidance and/or training to lower level personnel.
Supports KQM, Lean activities, cellular standardization and continuous improvement.
Maintains currency in the state-of-the-art.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Proficient in the use of CAD/CAM software, manufacturing methods and techniques.
Must know UG NX CAD/CAM and MasterCam for fixture design and NC programming of:
Milling 3, 4 and 5 axis horizontal and vertical machines
Turning
Mill Turning
Must know Vericut
Broad specialized training equal to 2 years of college required.
Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience or a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a CAD/CAM programmer.
